Hot off the presses...

So it goes on. For your consideration I present the following correspondence and link to a subsequent newspaper article. You may click on the images for a larger size. The redaction marks on page one are mine.

There will be more to follow I am sure.

  1. Let's be clear about something here: the administrators whose falsified resumes have been posted on this blog are not innocent victims. Rather their resumes contain lies that have been exposed as such by material that incontrovertibly demonstrates their falsity. Since the administration cannot defend their indefensible actions, they have apparently adopted the strategy of trying to silence those who are bringing this material to light. For those of you with short memories, this is at least the fourth attempt by the administration since 2009 to stifle dissent.

  2. Apparently Patrick Cage, a university vice president and its general counsel, does not know the difference between tenants and tenets. This is just one of many grammar errors in the letter...a bad reflection for CSU....

  3. If you Google Patrick Cage, it doesn't seem like he's much of a lawyer, http://foia.ilattorneygeneral.net/pdf/opinions/2012/12-003.pdf

  4. Please do not change course based on this transparent bullying.

If they do file legal action, I want to help you file a complaint against Cage's law license with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. This sort of legal action would be an abuse of process.

  5. Me to lil wayne:

You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

  6. The CSU blog administrators are to be commended for their rapid response to the concerns raised by the Chicago State University attorney. The new name is a more apt description of the subject of the blog than the earlier moniker. They should be even further commended for their thorough research and documentation of administrative violations of university and state hiring policies. Now that several news venues have published Attorney Cage’s concerns and the response of the blog administrators, it should be more difficult for employees who falsify their credentials to be hired at any Illinois university. Even better, now that the Chicago Tribune, Chronicle of Higher Education, and other media have published links to the blog, more readers will have the opportunity to view the facts regarding the crony hiring practices at CSU.

  7. Perhaps the administration needs to learn about the "Streisand effect".

  8. I have seen this 'chain threat' before myself. I used to get them all the time, but after a lawyer explained to me that there is nothing they really can do, and I should respond back with 'acknowledged your so called claim but need further information before action will be taken letter'. I always asked them to provide all the details of the trademarks and copyright claims along with anything else they think, and also note any issues with the received letter, such as the difference between tenants and tenets and the legal fact that everyone would have to stop using the terms otherwise this is bias legal action and that in itself is actionable.

Normally 2 or 3 rounds of letters before a lawyer has to craft an answer for you.

  9. When will these idiots realize you cannot censor valid legitimate bona fide free speech with trademark or copyright threats? What is it going to take? Rule 11 sanctions? Complaints to the respective state bar ethics and attorney grievance commissions? This is clear cut abuse of process. Any 1L trademark law student knows this is nominative fair use. Any 1L copyright law student knows that the pictures are covered under parody, fair use, and the like. You CANNOT silence critics of a public institution with draconian copyright or trademark law. And, as a matter of practicality, haven't these fxckwads heard of streisand effect? Painful to watch.

  10. I know that all of this information is very important. I have been following you all for the past year. However does anyone know what is happening with the student government elections for this year?
